‘A Review of Text Chemistry by Amy North’ by Amy North is an exciting book on a subject I love and one that is rapidly becoming popular – how can molecules get into the human body. I’ve long been intrigued by this fascinating field, which to my mind is both very dry and really quite fascinating in its own right. Amy North has done a great job of writing a review of text-based chemistry that makes you want to learn more. In fact, it’s so interesting I decided to write an entire review of this book!
The author starts out her review of the text by Amy North with a history of her studies of the field and its relation to medicine, especially as it relates to pharmaceuticals. The book is chock full of interesting anecdotes and illustrations, as she looks back and reminisces about past decades of research and experimentation. The science behind many of these drugs is truly fascinating. But what I’m interested in as a reader is how all of this came about and how it’s all been done using such simple, yet highly technical, methods.

I’m no stranger to text based reviews of text and especially this book. I’ve written a number of them myself. I’m particularly fond of reviewing books that are fiction based as I love to talk about all of the amazing things I’ve learned along the way. With this book, however, Amy North takes the text to a new level, in that she not only talks about the science behind the molecules and how they behave, but also gives a detailed account of the medical applications of these discoveries as well.
At the time I wrote this review, I was reading a second book by Amy North, ‘A Brief History of Chemistry’. That book focused on how our texts have evolved over the past century and how much of that evolution is based on science fiction. In that book I found a number of interesting conversations and comments that don’t appear in this one. Those that did appear to be more concerned with the social and political impact of the science on society and how it’s affected us as individuals. I find that both of those topics are just as fascinating.
That’s why I think it’s important to bring Amy North’s text to a new level, the next level, when you’re looking at a review of text-based materials. You want to pay attention to how she frames the subject, but you also want to be impressed by the results. The results are shown through diagrams and photos throughout the text. Even the figure legends are brilliantly illustrated in a manner that will impress anyone who doesn’t understand a lot about biology.
From a technical viewpoint, a review of text materials like this is really quite easy. For example, if you look at the molecular diagram of DNA you already know that the letters stand for individual bases. The different bases have different names too. So the text would review the importance of the bases and how they interact with each other, in some detail.
